The only problem to the karma system in e-communities is that if on a major forum, like TS, it would be abused. But in a small community, I think it would work very well. If you think someone's made a really good point or post or whatever, usually you exalt them with a karma merit or something. If you disagree with the point of view or opinion the person is conversing about or for whatever reason you may have, then you have the choice to smite them and their amount of points decrease. That's usually how it works, I think. But I think there ought to be a reason box, which you type in as to why you're meriting them or smiting. That's the general guist of it, I think.
