He wasn't forced to stop taking. Although the dispenser jammed, it would have been easy enough to pull apart to get to the pills. He even carried the thing around with him so that nobody could get to them. He chose to stop.

You assume that his doctor didn't care for him properly but we have no way of knowing that. He might be the best doctor in the world. Healthcare around here is pretty darn good.

Though I do understand how they can become addictive. A friend described the drugs they had once been on as "an injection of hot liquid care bears".

I wasn't assuming at all, I was simply noting the distinct possibility. You're exactly right, we just don't know what kind of care this boy had been receiving.

But the fact that we even have to question the possibility that the care was subpar tears to the very tragic center of this issue: the trust that we should have in our doctors that is being compromised.

i was shovin some pills down my throat until i was 12. i was taking anti-depressants, anti-psychotics, ritalin, adderall, and shit like that dude. i really didn't need it, the doctors who work for the government thought i did, so they made me swallow those pills. when i was 12, my grandfather took me off of them for a week and i was good. so since then, i stopped taking the shits. that's all you need to do, man.
