There is an answer to this, and a very good reasoning behind it. But for once I won't delve into the realism of things and simply leave you with this;

If I was a person who had never saw, heard of, or even in the slightest way imagined chickens, then do chickens, in my world, really exist?

As for my answer. Neither. They both co-existed mutually as time is nothing but an illusion, therefore 'first' is just a concept of the human brain and not an actual definitive statement.

I rest my case.
