Default Should I call him and her?

Ok, so I recently moved from Kansas City to Manhattan(KS) because my dad and I got into a fight. It started out verbal, but this one evolved into more. We always fight, and I found him really unfair. I pretty much had no life there, he tried to keep me socially locked up or something.

With this in mind, our fight evolved into pushing. Which evolved into fists. He threw the first punch, but I didn't hit back. I simply grabbed my phone and took a picture of my nose, as it was bleeding. Then I called the cops, and had him arrested.

He does work for the Army, so it does hurt his record and his job. My grandma, who comes over literally everyday, tried to tell me that I was wrong for calling the police. So she pretty much took his side, even though HE hit ME.

When the police came, I requested to live with my mom. She is pretty much the most amazing woman in the world. She actually lets me out of the house! She gave me a car to drive around in, she pays for gas and insurance. She gives me spending money, she cooks for me. She loves me, and I feel so great here.

It has been around 4-5 months since the incident, should I attempt to call my dad or grandma? They have made no attempts to call me, but should I?

If there's something you need to talk to them about then yes.
But just calling up for some father/son chit chat could be sorta awkward, no?

True. I wasn't planning on calling, just wanted to see what others thought.
