Default Is just recycling enough?

I was just wondering, because I recycle but that is pretty much all I (knowingly) do for the environment. Is recycling enough or should we be doing more?

Technically we should be doing more, but every small act helps.

We can't even recycle anymore.
The town we brought our recycling to ended their recycling program [due to laziness], and there isn't really anywhere we could bring out recycling to without it costing us a lot of money.
People around here just don't seem to care.

It's better than doing nothing.

You should try to do more little things though.

Like maybe replace a couple of your lightbulbs with energy saving ones.
Make sure you turn off the lights when you leave a room or don't use the lights if you don't need them.
Walk or bike to more places if you can.
When you take a shower, don't leave the water on the entire time. I've noticed that Americans do that. I get in, turn the water on to get wet, turn it off and lather up, then turn it back on to rinse off. Everyone I know (that is European) does that.
It saves a ton of water.
I also smoke, and I refuse to throw my cigarette butt on the ground. I never ever litter.

And try to get others to join you.

Just little things like that help.
