Sure, members are great, but ones who aren't losers--you know who they are--
are better.
this site can't run on respectable people, there aren't enough of them. so we spammed teenspots forums to get the non-respectable members, then we sent out pm's to the ones we wanted on the site (ex: you, because you have debating skills, and nikias) So we need some losers and some winners to keep the site running.

If they take the inappropriate stuff to messengers thats fine. But promoting on the chats isn't, which is a major teenspot problem. And i've never seen a moderator on the singles or flirt chats. This site allows you to post your email so others can see it, so obviously it isn't against the rules to share your email, and what ever they decide to do on the messenger is fine.

Don't get too caught up in quality just yet. We're doing fine. Heck, I've had over.....45-50 responses to my posts alone. The majority of them are pretty respectable posts too. I mean, we can take up thread space insulting the idiots, but they die down quickly, unlike good discussions/debates.
It doesn't really matter who dominates the forums, and as soon as we get more members, the debating forum will be alot better. Teenspot got rid of it's debating forum, which caused a few respectable members to stop posting, or not post as much, and the debating forum is one of the main reasons we liked this forum.

There is no gaurantee it will work, as my attempt at it failed within a week, but you have to at least try, unless having a forum filled with crap appeals to you.
With the right admin and mods, this site will be structured. But not everything in life is structured, especially with teens. If it is fully structured, it will get boring. People use the teenspot forums because there is a certain amount of structure and alot of un structuredness. And this is a general teen forum, so it isn't made for just mature structured people, although they are definatley good to have, alot of immature people will come on the forum, but they keep it a little more interesting in the non structured forums.

You can't expect things to run smoothly just because of the right people at the top. The people in the body are the problem. You have to take away freedom for forums to eventually succeed.

If you allow losers to dominate the forum, it will cause the better ones to not have the desire to post, because the only responses will be those from the losers.

If you want proof of this happening, see the CheatCC.com message boards.
I was actually banned for refusing to conform to new rules--I eventually proved to them that it was nothing more than conformism and not wisdom or rationality. You see, with video gamers dominating forums, you can imagine how much loserism exists there. There are few people who construct sentences well. I know of only two others out of over ten thousand members.

You see, people can not abide by rules, then they are banned. But since members are what you are looking for, why the emphasis on the staff?

It basically contradicts the point for believing what you do in the first place.

That's a pretty good point actually.
What if we have a forum strictly for the people who take it seriously, where you have to be granted permission to enter. Im not sure if it is possible, but it would keep some of the "smarter" members, and the "losers" that keep the site popular and running.

Actually, a survival-of-the-fittest-type of forum is a very smart way to run ANY forum. You may not be allowing a LOT of members in, but you're likely to do a good job of filtering out those who won't give much effort into writing a good post.

What is so bad about banning people who consistently write like apes?

Give them a warning, then take to them an iron fist.

It's called being forceful and making sure the right concepts are held strong.

Sure they are annoying. but they keep the site popular, and you an easily ignore them.
If there not doing any damage to the site, or members, whats the problem?

You're viewing this the wrong way, Jess.

Popularity is nothing of ANY valuable. Popularity among smart, rationale people could be HIGHLY valuable. It should be no concern of yours to just be popular. That's utterly foolish. It's logically as foolish as purposefully being unpopular for the sake of being unpopular.

Jess, you don't understand. Those who choose to spend much more time than others on here post EVERYWHERE. Perhaps, "infest" is a more effective way of describing what I mean than "dominate".

They aren't directly ruining the site, but if you think rationally about it, it is very probable that their desire to just goof off and fool around will
spread, and that way of posting will--and I gaurantee you this-- more acceptable.

You MUST come down with an iron fist. Again, I encourage those, if I am a moderator candidate, to vote for me, if you want rationality to officially destroy the crap.

Ben, not everybody wants to post on boards. Some people prefer chats, just as we prefer boards. It's as simple as that.

And you have an irrational fear of chats. As long as we don't have "singles" or "flirt", then most of the rooms are ok.

Also, popularity is not valuable? So having the same 60 members on this site for the next 2 years would be fine with you? Kindly remove you head from your ass.

This is why you shouldn't me a mod. You have a very skewed perception of crap. This gets clearer with every post you make. You're not rational; you make youself out to be a borderline tyrant.

I love your little "mod me" pitch at the end.

Im pretty sure i get what your saying. but the site's intentions were probably not based on getting the best of the best here. Me and Adam wanted some good debaters here, because teenspot was lacking this.
If you want a perfect forum, you should go create one, I would join it. Nice break from the normal idiots that use teen forums, but this site wasnt intended for smart people only.

Exactly. I tried to invite people who were intelligent, but didn't only limit it to them. Saying "you have to be really smart to join" is just being an elitist moron.

And stop advertising the fact that you want to be a mod. Almost everybody here wants that, but you don't see me going "MOD ME!!!!!!!" with every damn post I make.
