Default Setting Forum Rules...

I wanted to start a thread so that we can all develop the rules for this forum.... Basically I am looking for rule suggestions and comments about the rules... And the consquences for violating them...

Also i think we should develop the criteria of what a mod's responsibilities will be... what they can enforce, not-enforce... etc...

let me know your thoughts.

I think mods should have permission from admin (you) before setting a permanent ban.

I think the main rule should be that effort and thought should be at least considered, if not applied to post.

Also, I think mods should have every right to deal with threads and posts, but not membership status.

I would give them equal ability, as there really is not much purpose in making one greater than the other, when more can be done if they're equal.

Don't limit them to sections of the forum. Allow them to have the decision to do whatever they want to a thread or post anytime, anywhere.

I think banishments should always be the punishment. I am not an advocate of permanent banishment, so try a week-long banishment for most minor violations, maybe twenty-five day long ones for major violations.

I think that is more than fair.

I think a week is too long for a ban. Maybe 24-48h for minor offenses.

What lesson is being learned there? One day? That is probably worth the action to most rule-breakers!

One day of missed action is not much. A week long absence gets really agrivating. I've experienced it.

although a day or two- many people could live without

but a week long one- they would get frustrated and may turn outwards to find a new forum

Yes. but if they break another rule they would get a permanent ban. Maybe ip if it's that bad.

Definitely have a ban log for mods.

Special permission for IP bans. (It has to be a very severe case for IP bans.)

Regular rules:
No nudity.
No racism.
No sexism.
No gore/excessive violence.
No TyPPiNG LyKK DiSS BeCuZ DeY R bEGgIn 2 GeT fLaM3D.
Time bans instead of bans in general.

Going from one-two days to permanent bann? I don't like like the thought process here.

I am one for the coming down with an iron fist, but I think the first two bans shouldn't jump from relatively short to eternally long.

I view that as being too large of a difference, honestly.

This is true. One day is not long enough.
