Ehh, is it type 1 or 2?
My friend has type 1, she was born with it, she's pretty used to it now.
You pretty much just have to accept it and not let it get in the way of what you want to do and all that.
Just be positive =D

My dad has type 2
It can get nasty, if you don't take proper care.

In my dad's case, he just had to change his diet, wasn't that bad at all.

well...I have type 1 and i must say its alot different than type 2 or being born with it...
with type 2 like Arachnia said you just have to change your diet. and the worst case scenario is that you have to take insulin pills.
being born with it....how can i put it without hurting anyone - when one is born with diabetes....well...they dont know what life is without it! i mean...its a fact!
they dont know what its like to be "normal" they dont understand how its like to suddenly change one way of life to another!

with type 1 i had to get used to pricking my finger so that i could check my sugar levels 7 times a day then i had to get used to injecting myself with insulin 4 times a day - sounds terrible right?
well i dont want to sound ungrateful, 'cos i do have alot to be grateful for but....i dont know....i just keep getting into depression 'cos i think its the end of my happy life...
am i being difficult? LOL
anyway thanks for responding!

You're not being difficult, you're doing great by just posting about it.
About getting depressed... I think it's a normal stage, given what you're going through
You can still make the most of your life, but you have to get used to this, and accept it, if that makes sense at all.

it does make sense actually...(and im sure you know the phrase)but its easer said than done...my question is really how do i get used to it....
and although i know im wrong - i dont feel like i can make the most of my life...I've been thinking about what my life would be like more often - and I've been thinking more about my future children, and what would be the chances that they will get it!
and i keep contradicting and reassuring myself that Diabetes is not heredity!!

do i sound crazy? you'll probably say that im not, and that its natural that i feel this way....
anyway i would appreciate it if we continue this discussion...its really helping! (i know it doesnt look like it though...LOL)

I'm glad we can help you!
The only way you'll get used to it is through time.
And yeh the needles must suck, my friend has a pump that automaticly puts insulin in her, they are fairly exspensive but maybe you could look into that.
